Woolf McClane Receives the 2007-2008 Law Firm of the Year Award for Its Pro Bono Activities.

Legal Aid of East Tennessee ("LAET") presented Woolf McClane with the 2007-2008 Law Firm of the Year Award at the annual Pro Bono Celebration dinner held on May 29, 2008.

In 2003, Tennessee Supreme Court Chief Justice Frank Drowota launched a state wide Law Firm Pro-Bono Initiative to encourage the state's largest law firms to adopt a formal Pro Bono policy and to record their Pro Bono service through their local legal aid offices. Woolf McClane was one of Knoxville's first law firms to join the Pro Bono Project's Law Firm Program.

Since 2003, Woolf McClane has received this award four of the five times it has been given by LAET.

As stated in the firm's Pro Bono policy, all persons are entitled to equal access to justice regardless of their ability to pay for legal representation. Providing Pro Bono legal services benefits both the firm and its lawyers by providing this service to our community, presenting opportunities for professional development, enhancing the status of the profession as a whole, and contributing to personal career satisfaction.
